*drum roll* the last window!

The last original window was replaced today by my Dad. It's great and I suppose I shouldn't complain as I got a whole house of new windows for $87.00! (This kitchen window was the only one I had to purchase).

The countertops are in and look wonderful, what a difference from the old to the new fresh and clean look! All of the flooring is complete, you can look up the color -it is Pergo Sunlight Beech that I got on discount at Ollies! I am considering carrying this color floor into the dining room- the last room to be remodeled as it is housing the "satellite Home Depot/Lowes". I even managed to get a white Kohler cast iron sink which Steven and Dad installed while I was comfortably at work!

Next undertaking will be a back splash of some sort, am toying with either the pseudo tin look, granite tiles or small 1.5x1.5 travertine tiles. The only downside is the drywall has to be removed and backerboard needs to be put up in order to fit the backsplash properly with the countertops.

There are of course lots of mini details left in the kitchen- new baseboard, window trim, outlets and chair rail, not to mention trimming the doors, but when you started with the ugliest kitchen ever you can really appreciate the newer look. My Dad keeps saying I need a "wow factor" in the kitchen since I'm remodeling, I guess I never thought of it as these crazy remodels some people do, I simply wanted to bring the house up to current living standards, or what I view them as! I was interested in having frosted glass doors or ribbed glass doors made for the pantry area but the estimated cost of that would be about 600$ and it wasn't even the glass look that I wanted...So as I think about the wow factor and how to incorporate this I will share some photos.

And as for words of wisdom, when all else fails rip it all out and use plumbers putty.
